Telemetry frequency in new countries

Learn how to decide which telemetry frequency should be used for a country where the customer doesn’t know which frequency to use.

Specific telemetry settings according to each country’s legal framework are crucial to guarantee the maximum reliability of our telemetry connection. In terms of safe flying, a working telemetry connection is absolutely crucial. Wingtra offers two telemetry frequency bands: 868 MHz and 900 MHz (2.4 GHz is under development).

By default, the customer should decide on their own which frequency to use by filling out questionnaires provided by Sales Team.

In case that the new customer doesn’t know which frequency to use, approach Tihana from the Customer Success team who is responsible for searching the info about the telemetry frequency.

How to search for the frequency?

  1. Check the article in Wingtra Book and see if the country is already in the list: Telemetry Country Settings.
  2. Double-check: google search country name + mobile frequency (look for GSM frequency) → do not use this frequency for WingtraOne as it will interfere with mobile frequency! This website has info about GSM frequencies: Frequency check
  3. Double-check: google search allocation frequency (regulations and laws)

In some cases, it is not easy to get access to information about the available frequency band in some countries from online resources. In that case, it is enough to spend the minimum effort to try searching (maximum an hour or so).

When we get the information about the frequency that can be used, it should be noted in Hubspot (Wingtra Fulfilment properties).

Custom frequency

We can adjust the settings for the frequency module using software for which we already have the range. Detailed instructions are here: Adjust Telemetry Settings.

900 MHz actually has the range between 902-928 MHz which means that we can adjust the telemetry frequency anywhere between 902 and 928 MHz e.g. the customer can have a frequency range of 915-928 MHz telemetry.
