Known issue: Flap hinges come loose

Out of some reasons (unsure design or quality control from our manufacturer yet or in case of tippings), flap hinges can come loose on some WingtraOne. In case a distributor encountered it, below is how we deal with it.

If a distributor is technically capable and well-equipped, we could allow having them perform the repair by themselves. Otherwise, if they are not comfortable with the repair, a wing replacement is the solution.

In case that only one hinge is loose, the drone is still safe to fly (as long as the damage is not propagating to the next hinge). The customer should inform us as soon as he sees propagation of the damage.

We should not allow the end-customers perform this repair themselves, as it is difficult to assess the quality.

Instructions for repair

Please watch the linked video guide completely before starting the repair. Constantin provides step by step instructions.

 Materials required:

  1. Loctite 3090 (2 component cyanoacrylate glue)
  2. Sanding paper (120 - 240 grit)
  3. A small file (a very nice to have tool)
  4. Tissue papers
  5. Isopropanol / Acetone / Alcohol / or similar

Tips:

  • It is better to do the sanding and cleaning (with alcohol) process first, before you move the outermost hinge back up.

Quality control:

  • For quality control purpose, we would appreciate if you could take pictures of every step (if possible), compile them, and send them to us. Especially pictures after sanding, picture after applying the glue, and pictures after the repair.
