How to give credit notes to customers?
Have a look if you want to understand how Wingtra provides and manages credit notes to distributors.
There is a pipeline called "credit notes" on HubSpot. Deals within this pipeline can be seen as IOUs. Record a deal for each time you hand out a credit note to someone. The amount of the credit note and the "deal amount" has to match.
How to create a credit note.
1. Go to the "credit notes" pipeline
2. Create a new deal and the corresponding document in Pandadoc. There is a template, called "credit note" located in the "Reseller Documents" folder.
3. Promote it to the stage "Open". Voila that's it. Now you can also share this with your customer.
How to use a credit note.
1. On the invoice of your new deal, do record the reference number (Hubspot deal ID) of the credit note as a line item to apply the discount.
2. In the "credit notes" pipeline, promote the deal for this credit note to the "closed" stage.
Three stage Pipeline
"In preparation" - these are credit notes that are just being created or that have been offered to a company, however they were not agreed upon yet
"Open" - these are outstanding credit notes that can still be used by the respective company in an upcoming deal
"Closed" - these are credit notes that have been used up in previous deals.
