Generally, WingtraOne can be operated by a user without having received technical training from us. In many cases, we believe that technical training is beneficial nonetheless. An onboarding session is required for new distributors.
Schedule an onsite onboarding training
We work with ClickUp to schedule a new training. The Sales Managers can request a new training by creating a new task under the Onboarding Training list at least 14 days before the training takes place. The Checklist for onboarding a new distributor template should be used for a distributor training and the Checklist for onboarding a new end user template for an end customer training. Both templates include a list of subtasks to facilitate the organization and execution of the training. When onboarding a new end user, sales should indicate whether a training takes one or two days by setting the training type field in the task.
To facilitate scheduling, more than one potential date should be provided. Zoran is scheduling the training and aligning with the Support team who is doing it. Priority for conducting the training is given to the Customer Success Manager of the company. In case the CSM is not available, the training can be given by any other Support member.
Once the dates are finalized, Zoran sets the Start and Due date for the task. The Start and Due date should always be the actual dates the training is taking place.
Onsite training for the direct customers
Direct customers can find all the information regarding flight planning, safety features, post-processing, maintenance and make themselves familiar with the system in our Knowledge Base. We proactively approach them with a Welcome Mail (see Hubspot Template), either after an introduction of the sales agent or at the moment, the unit is sent out to them (we will receive a ticket with an asterisk on the title from shipping@wingtra.com when it is sent out).
For direct customers, Wingtra offers technical onsite training for up to 5 attendees in two modules:
- 1 day Operator training for USD 1'500
- 2 days Operator training for USD 2'800
A basic operator training course is recommended for customers that are familiar with drones, post-processing and are eager to figure out best practices themselves.
The advanced operator training course is recommended for customers who are new to drones and want to get up to speed as soon as possible or want to be updated on best practices.
The Sales Manager clarifies normally if the customer wants to purchase such training. We prefer doing the training for direct customers in Zurich, but sometimes also visit them. The customer has to pay for travel and (if needed) accommodation expenses. For direct customers, we normally only do a 1-day training where we focus on WingtraOne operation and safety and hand out thereafter a WingtraOne Operator certificate.
Clarify beforehand who will attend and share a sample agenda with them (make a copy of this document and modify).
Normally, we spend half a day in the office and another half on the field.
- In-office, we focus on all technical aspects of WingtraOne (in-office preparation, flight planning, flying & data collection, geotagging, ...) and safety aspects (failsafes, weather conditions, ...).
- On the field, we let all attendees perform at least one flight, explain all failsafes, and let them land manually the drone, pause/resume mission, and manually trigger RTH.
As an alternative, a customer can purchase Wingtra Online Operator Training Course. For more information about the course and what is its structure click here and how more details on how to enroll the courses check here.
Onsite onboarding for the new distributors
New resellers will get an introduction to us from the responsible Sales manager. They usually offer technical training as part of the first deal we have with them. We want all the resellers to get training.
Sometimes, we visit them for the training to onboard as many people from the company as possible and show them our commitment. In case traveling is not possible, a Wingtra Online Operator Training Course can be offered and enrolled following the guidelines. Besides Basic and Advanced Operator modules, resellers do Sales modules as well (e.g Sales Process and Tools).
In case onsite training is agreed before the training takes place we have to clarify:
- Who will attend? The training is tailored to the people that are doing the WingtraOne Sales Demos and WingtraOne support. From Wingtra side, The Customer Success Manager is usually doing the technical part and the Sales Manager the business part.
- How long will the technical training last? This can be something between 1 day and 2 days. Adjust the content respectively. The most common setup is two full work days for technical training and 0.5 business training.
- Clarify logistics (flight, hotel, car, …) and share an agenda. Feel free to use Invitation for onboarding training - onsite or Invitation for onboarding training - online template to get the information needed for organizing.
In the reseller training, we also discuss topics around the product itself (support setup, different payloads and workflows, geotagging, ...). The main focus is still the operation of WingtraOne and safety. If the training is 2 or more days, we hand out thereafter a WingtraOne Instructor certificate, which states that they are enabled to give training to their customers.
We normally spend a substantial part on the field such that they feel comfortable afterwards operating and demoing WingtraOne.
The content of a reseller technical training is the same as 2 days Operator training with additional Business sessions on top, organized by Sales
WingtraOne certificates for the onsite onboarding of our customers
After the onsite training, the customers can obtain the certificate which confirms that they can safely operate WingtraOne. Also, the resellers can hand out the certificate for their end customers.
There are 3 levels of certificates:
- WingtraOne Basic Operator (successfully completed 1 day Operator training)
- WingtraOne Advanced Operator (successfully completed 2d ays Operator Training)
- WingtraOne Instructor (successfully completed a distributor training)
The resellers can only hand out an Operator certificate. They can use our template for the certificate, but need to add their logo and signature.
In case the Online Operator Training Course is done, Thinkific automatically generates the certificates, so there is no need for additional ones.
Tasks for the instructor of a training:
- Record the name of every person that is attending the training (e.g. ask for a list of attendees (email and role) for preparation purpose before the training)
- Take a photo of each person with WingtraOne during the training
- Create a certificate after the training for everyone who participated
How to create a new certificate?
- Copy the slide in Google presentation
- Change the name, company and add the photo
- Add today’s date and your signature (any Sales or Customer Success person can hand out a certificate)
- Export the slide with the certificate as PDF
- Send it to the customer via email unless they request it differently.
Exception
If a customer, who hasn’t attended the training, is asking for a certificate we should check if he has performed successful flights.
If yes, it is ok to hand out an operator certificate.
- Ask the customer the name of the person who will receive the certificate and the name of the company
- Check if the customer completed successful flights with the contact/company owner (Customer Success or Sales team) or by checking the flight logs.
- Ask for a photo of the person with the WingtraOne to include in the certificate to make it more personal
Wingtra Repair Service Center Training
As all resellers and end customers are entitled to perform the replacement by themselves we do not offer this kind of training anymore. For more information, please check this Knowledge base article.
Wingtra Additional Training
For existing resellers or direct sales, we can provide training upon request. The focus is on more advanced topics, such as hardware components and troubleshooting cases. The training can be done onsite using Advanced Training slides, or the customer can purchase Wingtra Advanced Online Operator Training Course
