Do you want to plan your flights on a Windows PC? We are currently running a beta campaign.
FAQ
How do I install the beta?
Please install the beta both on your Windows PC and on the tablet. The newest beta version is v1.15.1-b.9.
- The following video describes the in-app installation process:
- Please download WingtraHub v1.0.0 from here if you do not have it installed already.
- To activate a beta campaign, navigate to "settings --> update" and click 5 times on the update button. Press "Activate beta campaign" at the bottom of the screen.
- The beta campaign key is: #DesktopPlanning
- If you struggle with the update, write an email to support@wingtra.com. The following tips might help you as well:
-
If your update fails on the tablet: Please manually uninstall WingtraPilot, navigate to /Tab Active 2/WingtraPilot/ReleasesDesktopPlanning/v1.15.1-b.9/ and click the APK file.
-
If your update fails on the PC: Please manually uninstall WingtraHub (search for "add or remove programs" and uninstall WingtraHub), download the installer with this link, and install WingtraHub manually.

How do I give feedback? How do I get help?
- Please report any bug, feedback, or question to support@wingtra.com. Every report of you means so much to us! Please flood us with feedback and be critical with us.
- Please add screenshots or recordings that explain your observation. For bug reports, please add the log file. You can find the WingtraHub log file under C:\Users\myuser\WingtraHub\Logs\ and the WingtraPilot log file under /internal storage/WingtraPilot/Logs/.
- Furthermore, we would love your participation in our online survey (5 min)
How do I subscribe to the beta campaign?
- If you got an email from Julian welcoming you to the beta campaign, you are subscribed already! If you haven't gotten one, but want to participate, please write an email to julian.surber@wingtra.com and he will be happy to enrol you.
Do I have to update my WingtraOne?
- Yes, you have to update WingtraHub on Windows, WingtraPilot on the tablet, and the WingtraOne to fully test the system.
- The first time that you connect to the drone, WingtraPilot will inform you that the versions between drone and tablet do not match. Follow the normal update process before you go out to fly.
How do I adjust the zoom level / font size?
- The font size / zoom handling has not been optimised yet for all screen resolutions. If your font size or zoom level is off, you have two options to correct
- In WingtraHub, you can find a zoom setting under "Settings --> General --> Account". Increase or decrease the zoom level with the + or - sign.
- Change the "Scale and layout" or "Resolution" setting of your Windows OS under "Settings --> System --> Display".
- Please take a screenshot before adjusting your zoom levels and report it to support@wingtra.com.
The application is freezing or crashing - what can I do?
- If the application gets unresponsive, freezes, or crashes, please take a screenshot or screen recording and report it to support@wingtra.com. Then close and restart the application.
How can I transfer a Flight Plan from desktop to tablet?
- You will find a new "Export" feature on the Flight Plan summary (which can be accessed on the 3 dots aside the Flight Plan). Use the export feature to save the Flight Plan to your desired location.
- You can transfer the .flightplan file to your tablet via email, SD card, USB cable, dropbox, google drive, or any other channel that you prefer.
- On the tablet, use the import feature in the main Flight Plan overview page and pick your .flightplan file.
- So far, the import from the internal storage is tested and supported. Please let us know if import from your desired source is not working.
Our recommendation is to use a file hosting system like google drive with a folder that is synched across devices - this allows you to export a Flight Plan to the drive on one device and import it on another device without additional manual steps in between.
What are the system requirements?
- Your system should run on Windows 10.
Where did the main navigation go (top left button)?
- With the introduction of the new Flight Plan overview page, we removed the main navigation as we believe your main navigation should start at the overview over all your Flight Plans. If you think differently or additional inputs, please share your feedback with us under support@wingtra.com.
Can I execute a flight with my Windows Laptop?
No, we believe that the rugged tablet is the right device for your fieldwork. By restricting you to the hardware provided by Wingtra, we can ensure the highest quality standards and ensure best reliability.
Is there an increased risk of an incident if I fly with the beta release?
No. The software running onboard the WingtraOne is unchanged and the safety is as on the latest stable release (v1.15.1). Also the flight critical functionality in WingtraPilot has been untouched. We generally do not expect hiccups in your operations if you switch to the beta - the worst case scenarios for beta-release-related issues that we could foresee are:
- The import of a Flight Plan planned on the PC does not work as expected leading to operational overhead
- The migration of an old Flight Plan to the newest beta release on the tablet does not work as expected leading to operational overhead
- (very unlikely) Something with the geotagging in WingtraHub does not work anymore as before
- (very unlikely) WingtraPilot freezes or crashes during flight leading to an unexpected return-to-home
There is always the option to switch back to stable at any time.
How do I quit the beta program and go back to normal operation?
- On Windows: Open the settings page "Apps & features" and uninstall WingtraHub. Install WingtraHub v1.0.0 freshly from C:\Users\myuser\WingtraHub\Releases\v1.0.0\. If the .exe file is missing, get it freshly from here.
- On the tablet: Navigate to "settings --> update". If you see the beta releases in the dropdown, press "Exit beta campaign" at the bottom of the screen (skip this step if you see already the stable releases). Install the normal v1.15.1 version. Update WingtraOne as well.
I do not know where to start - what do you want me to do?
- To get going, please install the new WingtraHub beta version (see above) and plan your next upcoming project (or a past project) on the desktop. Ask yourself, whether the new planning functionality helps you with your drone business and what features are missing.
- We are particularly interested in feedback about the following
- Does the new functionality help you in your daily operations?
- How intuitive is the UI/UX?
- Is the usability of the export/import functionalities and a manual transfer of the Flight Plan sufficient for your operations?
- After having executed some flights in the field: do you think you will adjust your processes and work with desktop planning from now on?
Known Limitations
Update to beta fails sometimes
We experience some issues with updating to the beta release across the user base and want to apologise for that.
If your update fails on the tablet: Please manually uninstall WingtraPilot, navigate to /Tab Active 2/WingtraPilot/ReleasesDesktopPlanning/v1.15.1-b.9/ and click the APK file.
If your update fails on the PC: Please manually uninstall WingtraHub (search for "add or remove programs" and uninstall WingtraHub), download the installer with this link, and install WingtraHub manually.
Geotagging on tablet is depreciated
With the beta release, we depreciate the option to geotag images on the tablet. Geotagging on tablet has always be limited - PPK data could not be processed and the geotagging was substantially slower than on PC.
This means that you should take the SD card(s) after your field day to your Windows PC and geotag the images with WingtraHub.
Custom elevation data
If you want to use custom elevation data, you have to import the GeoTIFF file on every device separately.
Offline maps
Offline maps (and elevation data) is not saved together with a Flight Plan. If you want to use offline maps in the field, you have to download it on the tablet.
Multi-language support
All languages except English have not been reviewed by our translators yet. Translation errors are expected.
